Mesmerizing Tranquility at the
Hide Away Hotel Hylla

Hylla Hotel links the area's past with a forward thinking philosophy, while focusing on a natural and sustainable approach to mountain resorts. The hotel blends collectible mid-century furniture with local artisan-made details and an evolving art collection. Balancing comfort and spiritual placement, all at 2,400 meters above sea level.

Built under the snow-capped mountains of Lijiang, from a palette of locally sourced stone, Hylla Hotel and Land is grounded in the ancient Naxi kingdom, home to the ethnic Naxi group who have inhabited the foothills of the Himalayas since the 11th century. Today, the site not only contains a hotel, but also a gallery, a lounge, a panoramic terrace and a restaurant.

Back in 2017, Liu Xiaoke—the founder of HYLLA, came across Yanjiao Village for the first time. Along the village roads banksia roses bloomed, which fragrance reminded Xiaoke of childhood when he walked home every day on his regular route from school. As a result, the unexpected fragrant trigger links Xiaoke with this beautiful place.

Located north in Lijiang by the foot of Yulong Snow Mountain, it connects the Zhi Mountains while embracing a rare view of snow mountain sceneries, rural fields and a complete canopy line. Adding to the advantage of Lijiang in the traveling business as a top destination, it was hard for Xiaoke to resist the invitation of this land either from a rational or emotional perspective. It is only natural to let it be, and help it grow.

The Chieftain Chair | Finn Juhl | 1949

One of Finn Juhl's most iconic masterpieces, the Chieftain Chair represents the peak of his career as a furniture designer. Finn Juhl was inspired by free, modern art and foreign cultures, and the chair came to signify a renewal in Danish furniture design when it was first presented in 1949. Today, it is produced only by the most skilled cabinetmakers, in either walnut or oak, and upholstered by hand in Denmark using the finest quality leathers.

The Egyptian Chair | Finn Juhl | 1949

Design critics have described the Egyptian Chair as a striking fusion of ancient Egyptian design principles, modern aesthetics, and aerodynamics. The chair was first displayed in 1949 at the Cabinetmakers' Guild Exhibition in Copenhagen alongside the iconic Chieftain Chair, which shares some of the same characteristic details, such as the distinctive horns of the frame. The Egyptian Chair is characterized by its unique craftsmanship and it is upholstered by hand in Denmark in leather or textile. The frame is available in oak or walnut.

The Baker Sofa | Finn Juhl | 1951

Defined by its bold two-piece backrest, the Baker Sofa marked Finn Juhl’s American debut. Designed in 1951, it was part of a modern furniture collection Finn Juhl made for the Michigan-based manufacturer Hollis Baker in 1949, which later inspired the sofa’s name. The Baker Sofa is masterfully crafted with a wooden frame available in oak or walnut. The upholstery is all hand-sewn in textile or leather, and the cushion features springs to provide maximum comfort and durability.

The Table Bench | Finn Juhl | 1953

After gaining international recognition in the U.S. in the early 1950s, Finn Juhl designed a range of furniture featuring steel pipe frames, inspired by the American designers he encountered. Among these pieces is the Table Bench — a design cherished by collectors for its lightness and understated elegance. The Table Bench offers a high degree of customization: it comes in three lengths and is available in veneer finishes of teak, oak, walnut, or Oregon pine, as well as black linoleum. The legs can be selected in burnished steel, black, orange, or light blue. It can also be ordered with or without matte polished brass edges, and with an optional foldable, padded cushion.
